Another regular confrontation with truthers has led to more name-calling, and more accusations flying around. From our little group on Facebook, a model truther by the name of Declan (Withholding last name because I do believe that privacy is something to be valued in the cyber age) has been telling us that 9/11 was an inside job by using examples from the story "Nineteen Eighty-Four."
While he does bring up some interesting points, it should be noted that there is one massive weakness to his entire argument: if this was truly an Orwellian world that we lived in, he wouldn't be on Facebook, in our little group putting up messages of government mind-control, government false-flags, etc.
If all of a sudden our friend disappeared and then re-appeared, only to compliment the government to the point that even the strongest Bush supporter would get sick, and tell us how stupid he was, then I, and I'm sure anyone else whose read "Nineteen Eighty-Four" would be suspicious. However, the fact remains that since he's still around, still spurts out his verbal diarrhea and openly insults those who defend logic and science shows that this government isn't in control in the same way that was shown in "Nineteen Eighty-Four", and our friend Declan hasn't been "MiniLoved" as shown in the story.
Keep insulting us Declan, but until you prove beyond a reasonable doubt, and have either my political science professor or my friend's civil engineering professor believe you, then I will keep my judgment on the official story.
